Humanitude™ Caregiver Training (1)

Total 9 hours (3 sessions), Classroom-based

This course is designed for family members and domestic helpers caring for persons living with dementia. Caregivers will learn and apply Humanitude™ relational techniques that have been proven effective in managing challenging behaviours, while enhancing relationships with care recipients. Humanitude™ trainers will guide the caregivers to try the new skills with role play in class and assign home practices. By integrating Humanitude™ into daily care, caregivers can improve the quality of life for both care recipients and themselves.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn and apply Humanitude™ techniques: Sensory Capture and the 4 pillars (Gaze, Speech, Touch and Verticality (maintaining an upright body).
  • Understand challenging behaviours and apply Humanitude™ strategies to manage common challenging situations in dementia care.

Humanitude™ Caregiver Training (2)

1.5 hours, Home-based

This course is designed for caregivers who have completed Humanitude™ Caregiver Training (1) and wish to deepen their Humanitude™ skills through personalised hands-on practice. With Humanitude™ Trainer’s guidance, the caregivers will apply and personalise Humanitude™ techniques, such as Sensory Capture, the 4 pillars of Humanitude™ and basic Relational Handling with their loved ones at home. By integrating Humanitude™ into daily care, caregivers can improve the quality of life for both care recipients and themselves.

Course Objectives:

  • Personalise the applications of Sensory Capture, the relational techniques to gain a person’s care consent before any care deliveries, resulting in improved care acceptance, participation and engagement in activities.
  • Assist older persons to stand up or be in an upright position during Activities of Daily Living and other activities to promote a sense of identity, self-esteem and overall well-being through basic Humanitude™ Relational Handling techniques, ensuring safety and comfort for both care recipients and caregivers.

Humanitude™ Caregiver Training (Blended Learning)

Total 3 hours, E-learning followed by a home-based session

This course is designed for family members and domestic helpers caring for persons living with dementia. Part 1 of the course is conducted through E-learning modules. Caregivers will learn Humanitude™ relational techniques that have been proven effective in managing challenging behaviours, while enhancing relationships with care recipients. Part 2 of the course is a home-based session. Humanitude™ Trainer will guide the caregivers to apply and personalise Humanitude™ techniques with their loved ones at home. By integrating Humanitude™ into daily care, caregivers can improve the quality of life for both care recipients and themselves.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn Humanitude™ techniques (Sensory Capture and the 4 pillars of Humanitude™) to gain a person’s care consent before any care deliveries, resulting in improved care acceptance and participation.
  • Understand challenging behaviours, identify common triggers and learn how to manage common situations in dementia care.
  • Personalise the applications of Sensory Capture and strategies to prevent or reduce defensive behaviours and neuropsychiatric symptoms.
  • Assist older persons to stand up or be in an upright position during Activities of Daily Living and other activities to promote a sense of identity, self-esteem and overall well-being through basic Humanitude™ Relational Handling techniques, ensuring safety and comfort for both care recipients and caregivers.
